For Mach Dir ein Bild von annette hollywood, the artist had portraits of her drawn by sixteen different portrait artists on the streets of New York. The installation of the portrait drawings also includes a video documentation of the encounters with colleagues—encounters between the model and the artists with their different conceptions of art. In the installation, the arrangement of the video monitors on stools quotes the situation of model and street artists. The exhibition audience is thus placed in the situation of the person portrayed. The work also reveals different forms of perception and representation and documents the meaning of artistic talent and ability, aesthetic norms, and cultural influence in the artistic depiction of an individual. At the same time, it is also a portrait of the city New York, its sound atmosphere and its street artists. The play of subjective perception and interpretation in art and art criticism continues in the commissioning of sixteen contributors, who for their part write on the work in the publication of the same name.
